Original invitation:
NERA (Northeastern Regional Association of State Agricultural Experiment
Station Directors) is pleased to inform you that the Northeast Invasive
Plant Species will be held on March 21-22, 2012 at the USDA ARS Beltsville
Campus, Beltsville, MD. Please find attached the Program.
The purpose of the Forum is to bring together researchers and Extension
educators from multiple disciplines and Land Grant functions in a think
tank approach to define opportunities for regionally coordinated research
and extension programming in support of invasive species management in the
Northeast. The concept of the Forum evolved from discussions at a NERA
meeting two years ago where the need to have broader representation from
our institutions on a multistate proposal in the area of invasive species
was suggested.
We request your cooperation in identifying and encouraging key faculty at
your institutions to participate in the Forum. Please reach out to a broad
array of researchers and educators from disciplines including the plant
sciences, ecology, economic and social sciences. The goal is to push the
idea that collaboration beyond that which has happened in the past needs to
be expanded to cross major boundaries.
A copy of the announcement and registration form is attached. There is no
registration fee but registration is required.
We are looking forward to a very productive and exciting meeting.
