[MAIPC] National Public Lands Day- Volunteer in Rock Creek Park, Saturday, September 26th from 10:00-12:00

Join Rock Creek Conservancy, the Songbird Project and the National Park Service as we celebrate National Public Lands Day and the 125th Birthday of Rock Creek Park. 
Activity: Volunteers will remove invasive plants, cleanup trash, and clear debris from the Piney Branch Tributary of Rock Creek Park. Tools, gloves, and training on how to identify and cut invasives will be provided. This event is suitable for ages 8 and up. Student Service Learning hours can be earned by middle and high school students. 
When: Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm 
Location: Volunteers will meet at Picnic Area 29 in the Piney Branch section of Rock Creek Park. The closest intersection is 17th Street and Piney Branch Parkway NW, Washington, D.C. 20011. Street parking is available in the neighborhood. 
What to Wear: Please dress appropriately for the weather. Wear sturdy boots or sneakers. We recommend long pants and sleeves to prevent contact with poison ivy. 
What to Bring: Bring water. Tools and gloves will be provided. Feel free to bring your own tools and gloves if you have them.
