"The Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Department of Parks, Montgomery County is seeking to fill a part-time career position (32 hours per week) coordinating a large volunteer program focused on the management of non-native invasive plants on County Parkland. Under supervision of the Department's Forest Ecologist, the incumbent will coordinate, plan and administer large-scale, volunteer projects to remove non-native invasive plants and replant and maintain native species. This employee will work with an established group of 700 active, trained volunteers, as well as with local community groups, and other organizations. The incumbent will provide technical resource management training on non-native invasive plant management for volunteers and volunteer supervisors. They will maintain detailed records and write a quarterly volunteer newsletter. This position will require some weekend and evening work (minimum of one weekend day per month) and the occasional application of herbicides (training and registration to be provided)."
