The ‘rumors’  you refer to are actual fact and more than just herbicides are being incorporated into technology advanced integrated systems. The concept of autonomous robotic platforms performing management operations in crop and other systems is prevalent in current research and is being pursued by individuals around the world. You're Brilliant!! I love your idea!!  I think programming invasibots to spritz cut stems with glyphosate might be possible too. Combining this with drones to detect and map targeted invasive species would be pretty amazing. We need more creative thinking like this.
