A key factor in managing annual invasive ground covering plants (my experience is with garlic mustard and Japanese stiltgrass on a 5 acre property) is controlling deer. I find that garlic mustard (biannual) has fallen to persistent weeding pressure and removal of seed heads, but Japanese stiltgrass is much more difficult. I observed over a decade ago that where deer were excluded, the native Imaptiens campensis easily out competed the stiltgrass. It germinates earlier and seems to shade out the later germinating stiltgrass.

Nice summary of some great native groundcover plants especially a number of terrific native sedgess Not clear that wild ginger is the answer to garlic mustard ( in my experience it just spreads too slowly.
