[MAIPC] fig buttercup

Thank you for the much needed letter. I met with a Montgomery County (MD)
Parks Dept invasive weed control person 4 days ago and he said that all the
stream valley parks are full of fig buttercup and the Park service is
basically letting them go because they're not willing to spray; we've seen
the poor results from and hurdles of flaming.

Patches of may apple and other spring ephemerals have disappeared in 2
years; even the garlic mustard can't penetrate. Only Japanese pachysandra
seems to stop the encroachment so we now leave it in place as the better
option to remove when the time is right. The invasive specialist for
Montgomery County said that the early research indicates that buttercup can
destroy the native seedbed in 6 years. Any sense of how to create urgency
among policy people?

Thank you again for the letter.
