I'm not sure I'd agree that your method is necessarily less toxic. Applying
salt to the forest could create problems (salting the earth and all of
that). You have developed a chemical solution that kills organisms; just
because you bought those chemicals at the grocery store instead of the
hardware store doesn't mean they are necessarily safe.
