Happy New Year.
I have posted 2 blogs at www.cisp.us or www.nivemnic.us - both discuss spread & intensification of Phytophthora infestations. I rely heavily on the article by the IUFRO Phtyopthoras in Forests group - Jung et al - that I somehow had not seen when it first appeared.
I am most disappointed that the government shutdown forced USDA to cancel its annual invasive species research symposium - held in Annapolis Maryland for 29 years. I do hope that it can resume next year.
Colleagues have brought to my attention recent articles about Phytophthoras in restoration planting in California and the mysterious beech leaf disease - both of which I have blogged about in the past.
REMINDER: if you work for the Forest Service, please inform me of your new @usda email address (I realize you will have plenty to do when the politicians allow you to return to work).
Faith
