This is the research synopsis of the research I did this past field season on the Spotted Lanternfly, Lycorma delicatula and notes on where I am disagreeing with Penn State University based on field observations, basic ecology and common sense.
You are free to reference this presentation and notes as long as I am credited as "Richard Gardner, November 2019".
This project is now put to bed unless something unexpected happens, even though I will be continuing my observations on a much lower level. I have walked at least 1000 miles and spent at least an equal number of hours in the field over the last 18 months trying to understand the Spotted Lanternfly and its effects on the ecology. I have around 6,000 photos with dates and GPS points if anyone is interested in them.

I am shifting my focus to comparing the ecological utility of the flowers to insects of two common long season blooming non-native invasive plants versus two common native plants. At this point I am thinking about looking at Spotted knapweed, Centaurea stoebe, and Canada goldenrod, Solidago canadensis. Suggestions for other long blooming xeric or woodland plants common to central Pennsylvania are welcome.
