Hi, Kate.

An air compressor and a leaf blower are substantially different in the intensity of air stream. The air compressor is the pneumatic analogue to a hydraulic pressure washer.

Next time the the vehicle is in the same shop as the air compressor, check it out. I think you’ll see it has the capacity to dislodge debris quite effectively.

Be well.

Thanks Art. I think the guys are already using a leaf blower.

Our specific concern is that it looks like we are inadvertently spreading Arthraxon in tire treads, and we thought a water pressure washer might work better than air to get mud out of the tires...

It might be easier to do this with compressed air rather than compressed water.

I would assume you can find a compressor powered by an internal combustion engine rather than an electric compressor. Or, rig the needed converter to go from vehicle DC-power to amps-AC you would need to run the compressor.

Be well.

Has anyone had any experience using a backpack pressure washer or other small portable pressure washer to clean tractors, mowers, etc between sites to prevent the spread of invasive seeds?

thanks!
