[MAIPC] Mile-a-minute seedlings

I'm not sure if that photo is mile-a-minute. Attached photo is mile-a-minute from early June in northern Lebanon County, PA near the William Penn Shelter on the Appalachian Trail. Generally I pull it when I find it in small areas such as a recent forest opening due to a dead tree along a trail. It is prickly so I suggest gloves, which I seldom have when hiking, or moderate pain tolerance. Very fortunately it is not like multiflora rose or Japanese barberry in that I have yet to have secondary issues when a prickle is in my skin.
My feeling is that once a bed of mile-a-minute is established it is a lost cause. We have it in our yard and the open swamp at the bottom of our woodlot. When I find it in our yard I pull it. In our woodlot it is useless because the birds will reseed it.
A few stray thoughts - the fall bird migration can be tracked and the roosts by where beds of mile-a-minute can be found. I see it on the flyway along the ridge of Blue Mountain near home and under electric wires where the birds roost. I'm not sure what species of birds eat the berries. It would make an interesting study though.
It is frost sensitive. During the winter I identify beds mostly by the prickles on the vine.

I think this picture was taken in early May, south central PA.

HI, folks. I don't know what mile-a-minute seedlings look like. Could someone please send either a description or a photo?

Thanks.

I apologize for being unclear. Unfortunately I have not yet gotten to the point where I am removing all of the mile-a-minute well enough to prevent berry production. I was trying to figure out if while removing garlic mustard, I came across a patch of seedlings if it would be of benefit to remove them.

I may need to do some playing around to see.

Thanks

Yes, remove them while they're young. If more appear, you can pull them up too.

Personal opinion: The seed bank is finite. So yes,  if you have the opportunity to catch a bunch of early seedlings, I say go for it. I plan to myself this weekend in fact. Cheers,  Steve Young, Arlington VA

Does anyone know if it is helpful to remove the seedlings of mile-a-minute? Or will new ones grow in their place?

Thank you
