Hi all,
I am conducting a Noxious Weed Assessment for Japanese knotweed, with the
intention of getting the species placed on the Virginia Noxious Weed List.
The Blue Ridge PRISM group is organizing an effort to substantially broaden
the Virginia list this year. I need to complete the assessment in a couple
of weeks.
As many of you probably know, to get a species listed, there is a
substantial form that must be filled out with 23 specific and precise
questions to answer based on published research or other reliable
documentation. I have most of the assessment completed, but two important
topics need more evidence.
*1. General Management Difficulty:* Do you know of studies, references,
or data regarding the cost to manage the species (e.g. $x per year per
acre) and over what time frame?
*2. Losses/Damages/Costs to Agricultural, Forestry, or Horticultural
Production. * Do you know of studies, references, or data related to
impacts to production of any of these products-- e.g. reducing yield,
reducing commodity value, or increasing production costs?
If you have information, no need to reply to the entire distribution list--
just send to me.
Thanks in advance.
