Hi,
Such great questions. Not sure if there is any research out there on this topic.
I have only used mulch from invasive species as weed control in garden pathways. Pretty useful but I wouldn't use it to mulch where I'd like native plants to grow just to be safe. I would love to see the results of a study on this. We are in the process of taking down many Ailanthus trees these days in Fairfax County.
Warm wishes,

Subject: [MAIPC] Use of Tree of Heaven Mulch
See question below. Does anyone have any information or knowledge on this subject? Thanks.
Ailanthus mulch
I had nine 30-40' ailanthus trees cut down and mulched. I did not realize at the time that it is allelopathic. I am trying to re-grow a native Virginia garden. Should I age this massive amount of mulch, or get rid of it? How long does its allelopathy last? Weeks? Months? Years?
Thank you so much for your kind consideration.
