[MAIPC] mystery invasive in central NJ

Many on these listserves can be grateful that you haven't encountered
Photinia villosa. I believe it is an escape from a nursery in Princeton,
NJ, and is now spreading across the state. A few years back, I discovered
another invasive small tree that may be in the same genus, which was
changed from Photinia to Pourthiaea. Here are a couple photos of the

Photinia villosa is much coarser.

I've been encountering more and more in Princeton preserves. Most are small
and don't bloom, but I have one in my yard that gets some sun and just
finished blooming.
