FYI: Blue Ridge PRISM has two free online events coming up this summer:

*(1) Blue Ridge PRISM Summer Meeting*
*Wednesday, July 19: "These Are Not Your Grandpa's Quail"*
*11:30 am to 1 pm, via Zoom*

*Register: *https://www.eventbrite.com/e/640679949977

The northern bobwhite aka bobwhite quail (*Colinus virginianus*) is the
only quail native to eastern North America. Its clear, whistled call was
once a common sound throughout its range. We hear its call much less often
now because of a steep decline in the bobwhite quail population, mostly due
to habitat loss.

For its Summer Meeting, Blue Ridge PRISM will welcome Marc Puckett, a
certified wildlife biologist and the Small Game Project Leader for the
Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources. He will discuss the
bobwhite quail and how to manage its habitat in multiple scenarios so that
these birds can thrive.

You can submit your questions beforehand (during registration), or ask them
live during the webinar.

*This is a free online event and includes a question & answer period with
the audience. Those who register will receive access to the recording.*

*(2) Blue Ridge PRISM Summer Brown Bag Webinar*

*Thursday, August 17: "A Deep Dive Into Aquatic Invasive Plants"*

*12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, via Zoom*

*Register: *https://www.eventbrite.com/e/640685396267

Blue Ridge PRISM will be joined by a panel of experts who will discuss
aquatic invasive plants. Aquatic invasive plants are plants that have been
introduced into the United States from other parts of the world and have
adapted to growing in, around, or near water. They are a growing concern in
Virginia and beyond, on both private and public lands. Our guest panel will
provide some background about aquatic invasives, how they are a problem,
and methods for managing them. The panel will then take questions from the
audience. If you are able, please submit your questions beforehand during
registration. We will also answer some questions live from the audience.

*This is a free online webinar. Those who register will receive a copy of
the recording.*
