In 2026, Bugwood (the University of Georgia’s Center for Invasive Species and Ecosystem Health) celebrates 30 years of bringing science and technology together to support education, outreach, and applied programs. To mark the occasion, we invite you to join us for a special virtual event highlighting the tools and collaborations that have helped shape Bugwood’s impact.

Register for the Bugwood Summit
As part of the anniversary year, the Bugwood Summit will take place on April 16 at 2:00 p.m. EDT.

The Summit will highlight recent enhancements across Bugwood Tools, including Bugwood Images, EDDMapS, Wild Spotter, and the Connect platform. Attendees will get a closer look at how these tools are being refined to improve usability, strengthen collaboration, and support impact tracking. Real-world examples of “Bugwood Tools in Action” will demonstrate how these resources can be integrated into programs supporting education, outreach, research, and management.

Save your seat and join the conversation about what’s next for Bugwood.

30 Years of Bugwood
Founded in 1996 with early CD-ROM projects, Bugwood has evolved alongside the web into a trusted network of freely available tools and image resources. Today, Bugwood Images hosts more than 330,000 images contributed by thousands of photographers, while EDDMapS supports invasive species tracking with more than 9 million verified reports.
Housed at the University of Georgia Tifton Campus, the Bugwood Center continues to identify gaps and deliver practical, accessible tools and solutions for professionals and the public alike.
