<font color='black' size='4' face='Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif'>Plants for a Future is a non-profit, well publicized website and viable source for edible and useful (medicinal purposes) plants. Their focus is not on the invasive aspect of the plant, not on the eco-system fit, nor on the wildlife interaction, it is more of a focus on the human interaction. There is another published book that follows the same suit so to speak - it focuses on how specific plants work well for the human rather than the gestalt. 'Plants for the Future', Jerome Malitz, Timber Press. Their place in all of this is just as important as they focus on other aspects of plants but they are not useful here for us in this particular venue They are useful for foragers, and others that are intent on making the most of what is growing next to them so to speak. I've been using their website occasionally for the last 5 or so years for edible and medicinal plant info, knowing it was a UK organization. If you have documents relating to Corydalis incisa invasiveness in the USA, you can share it with them, but I think they are a very small organization with limited budget, staff & volunteers. I suspect the weed potential field is not one that they have put much into. (only ~200 plants in their data base come up as Yes, while ~14,700 come up as no).<br>

This exchange brings up a very important and often overlooked issue with invasive species ? which is to note where they are/might be invasive. And likewise with native plants ? native plants can really only be native to somewhere, and I?m as guilty as any in often failing to mention where. In a talk to a specific audience, in a specific location, the content might readily be inferred accurately enough. But as talks make their way online, and as much of the information on invasive and native species is largely online, the risk of getting confusing information is very high. This information on C. incisa might be a case in point ? parts of the webpage indicate USDA hardiness ? one would think the other information on invasiveness might also be with respect to the US/North America. When left unstated it certainly opens up the opportunity for confusion.<br>
<br>
Bottom line ? a good reminder that we might all want to be more careful about specifying the regions where species are native and invasive ? particularly with anything that ends up online.<br>
