the arguments made by Downey and Richardson re: the role of non-native 

invasive plants in pushing native plant species along the "extinction 

trajectory".  Downey and Richardson are countering arguments by some that 

invasive plant species have trivial impacts and so should not become the focus 

of expensive or difficult management efforts.  </DIV>
