PATC has been working on this for the last 5 years. We have several
programs working and are building out to have volunteers on all 43
public land units we serve in the Mid-Atlantic (Central VA to
Central PA and WV)..<br>
<br>
I will send you my annual report when I get home which includes our
goals for next year. I have learned a fair bit about the
constraints and opportunities for this and would be happy to share
them with you.<br>

species. This would not only verify what invasives were

for replanting areas.</font></li>
<li><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">Priorities and
order of attack. The most damaging species and/or the
species that made the process easier </font><font
face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif"><font face="Helvetica,
Arial, sans-serif">might be addressed first</font>. For
example, if tree-of-heaven and Norway maple were intermixed,
it would probably be better to remove the tree-of-heaven
first, because removing the Norway maple first would enable
the tree-of-heaven to get more sun and grow stronger.</font></li>
<li><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif"><font
face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">Summary of equipment,
staffing and herbicides needed.</font></font></li>
<li><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">Removal/control
methods for each invasive species along with times of year
and length of time needed.</font></li>
<li><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">Methods for
addressing remaining plant matter, including seeds, rhizomes
and roots.</font></li>
<li><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">Maintenance to
control invasives over the long term.</font></li>
<li><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">Planting of
beneficial replacement species.</font></li>
<li><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">Considerations,
such as phased removal of an invasive species providing
songbird cover so that there would be time for natives to
grow large enough to assume that function.</font></li>
<li><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">Etc.</font></li>
</ul>
<p><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">Please let me know if
you'd be okay with sharing your plan, whether it's short and
to the point, or more detailed.<br>
