One of the PI’s found an aphid feeding on stiltgrass which proved difficult to collect in moderate numbers and sent specimens for identification ( retired(?) taxonomist located in CA -Judy Hugh Goldstein provided the contact info ) .The genus was confirmed although some tentative indications of a particular species complex . We have a lab colony of the aphid in China and conducting some host range testing . It has been a nightmare getting seeds of potential non-target plants from the US into China but finally have some American snowbell seeds in China . They are probably aphids but I can’t get it to species. Aphids are significant pests in some cases so there should be literature out there that would allow you to key it out by species, if you were willing to go down that rabbit hole.
