Objet : Knotweed management using tarps, geotextiles or geomembranes

Dear all,

My colleagues and I are currently investigating the effectiveness of
tarping/covering (i.e. the use of tarps, geotextiles or geomembranes) to control invasive knotweeds (Reynoutria spp.; syn.
Fallopia spp., Polygonum spp.). Since reliable sources of information on this control technique are largely lacking, we are reviewing the scientific and technical literature as well as gathering feedbacks on attempted knotweed control operations
that used tarping/covering of any sort. In order to help us highlight the objective and context-dependent factors determining the success and failure of this method, we invite any stakeholder who experienced this kind of management to complete the following
questionnaire:

https://forms.gle/gvHJmYPZS9F9mBSw5

This questionnaire is available in English and in French and will take approximately 15 minutes to be completed. Of course, feel free to forward this questionnaire to your contacts. Any “hard-to-find” documentation on tarping/covering is
also welcome.

We thank you in advance for helping us improve recommendations regarding the management of knotweed populations.
