In the Northern Virginia area this is a very invasive ornamental plant. Fortunately I think it is one of the easier ones to identify through the entire year. </div>

<div dir="ltr">There are a few of these in our Princeton, NJ nature preserve that were probably planted many decades ago and persist, but just today I was noticing one blooming where I hadn't seen one before, and wondered if they are starting to spread. It might also be that it's been there all along and is finally getting enough sun to flower now that so many ashes are dying. </div>
