Richard and others,
Looking forward to seeing lots of people at the conference this week!

For hiking near Juniata College:
The "Peace Chapel² area is closest. The trails aren¹t the best marked, but
it¹s pretty small and difficult to get too lost. Our field visit on
Wednesday afternoon should take us over there. (The ³chapel² is an art
installation by Maya Lin. As a circle of rocks, it¹s a bit on the
minimalist side. Don¹t wander in circles looking for a chapel.)

Other nearby favorites include ³1000 steps,² Canoe Creek State Park,
Martin¹s Gap, Old Crow Wetlands area, Shaver¹s Creek area, and the
Raystown Lake area.
Some specific hikes can be found here:

For restaurants near Juniata College:

If your hike takes you north or west you may be close to State College or
Altoona which will have many more opportunities for excellent eats.
