I've documented early occurrences of this in Durham, NC, with one homeowner diligently eliminating it from his property and another refusing to do anything, virtually ensuring its eventual spread. Made a few efforts to get it listed, in case that would help, but it's hard. It's like climate change or Burmese pythons in the Everglades. The system needs proof that it's a problem before they'll take action, at which point the problem is advanced.

In NJ, where it paves floodplains in spring, it's still worth monitoring and spot spraying in watersheds where it's just starting to invade. In a few parks, it's just starting to invade the lawns.

Thanks so much Christina. This is great. … To see it in the field now all you will see is a totally black surface with no green plants for July-January when the roots send up new sprouts. Marc

Hi Marc,
I have attached the draft for the Lesser Celandine action alert. I used the Japanese Stiltgrass action alert as a draft and just altered it to be specific for lesser celandine. I still have to change the picture in the alert from Stiltgrass to Lesser Celandine, I am waiting to see it in the field so i can take my own picture. I also added a part about how the Japanese Stiltgrass action alert was a success, but I was not exactly sure what I should say, so if you think there is a better way to write/or improve that paragraph let me know.

Thanks,
