[MAIPC] Skin Irritation to Bamboo

Hi,
     I am working with a group removing bamboo from a public park in Newark, NJ.  I'm not sure of the species of bamboo but after cutting it down and bagging it up for a few hours, some workers have had skin irritations on their forearms.  It appears to be a minor irritation that responds well to hydrocortisone cream and oral antihistamines.
     Has anyone had any skin rashes or other irritation from working with bamboo?
