[MAIPC] MAIPC Digest, Vol 62, Issue 2

The false revisionism statements about invasives (plants and animals) is right up there with denial of human-accelerated climate change. Anti-science at best. Anti-education at worst. If more people recognized the invasives in their community and had any idea of the native plants they have displaced, and subsequent effect on insects and birds, there might be some hope. It's horrifying and sad that in modern times people don't still get the Land Ethic and the concept of biotic communities. Guess that's why we are using the Earth up. Apologies for the whining/doomsday view.

Guess we need to keep putting one foot in front of the other and do our best to educate and mitigate.

I just wrote a paragraph by paragraph critique <http://newscompanion.blogspot.com/2016/12/the-latest-false-revisionism-about.html>
of
an article that claims there's a "growing minority" of scientists and writers who believe we should do nothing about invasive species. Entitled "Humans make a mess, but invasive species get the blame" the article appeared recently in the Boston Globe.

Thanks for taking this one on. It's a growing problem in the mainstream press, incl NYTimes.
