No worries, Clark. ;-)

I think that the Native Plants for Wildlife Habitat and Conservation Landscaping book is great, and I support the idea of a reprint, but I think an updated edition is necessary. There have likely been changes to the list of native plant nurseries, and changes in what plants are commercially available (which, I have heard, was a major factor in what species were listed).

I can speak to Kathryn Reshetiloff at the FWS-CBFO to see if there is any interest in an update. It would have to be a group effort across the region to gather the necessary data on nurseries and their species lists.

Ossi,

My understanding is that Mt. Royal also has the plates for the companion book "Native Plants of the Chesapeake..." Can we see if there is interest in getting this book printed as well? In some ways I think this is the more important book; particularly as homeowners hear "plant native".

Members,

MAIPC is coordinating another reprint of the Plant Invaders of Mid-Atlantic Natural Areas booklet (currently in its 5th edition), and is seeking to make the reprint order as large as possible. Any organization can join in the reprint by filling out the order form below. Orders must be made in increments of 50 books (one carton). We are requesting that orders be placed by January 31, 2017. You will be subsequently contacted by the printer, Mount Royal Printing, to coordinate payment for your order.

The price per book will decrease with a larger total reprint order (up to 15,000 copies):

5,000 at $3.18 each

10,000 at $2.41each

15,000 at $2.16 each

Estimated shipping:
$8.00/carton for handling for pick-up orders
$25.00/carton for shipping and handling for ground shipping

Please only fill out the form if you intend to purchase the books. Filling out the form represents a pledge to actually purchase the books no matter what the final price is. Click here to go to the Order form<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeIT7WXSfr6A0Zktrb59O_SODkCE3pSzPKaDHNiEky1X4PxLw/viewform>.

Howdy folks, just a thought on the native plants front... Since native
plant nurseries are likely to go and come (hopefully more come, like craft
breweries, than go) may I suggest that it might be better for a reprinted
Native Plants book to link to a curated website of the nurseries? Hopefully
the Web info could be kept current and then there wouldn't be that worry
about outdated info in the print book... Also, nurseries that spring up
could contribute their own info to the website, subject to approval by the
curator. Cheers,

Steve Young, Arlington VA volunteer and past Treasurer, MAIPC
