Hi. Virginia Master Naturalists are working with Blue Ridge PRISM,
Virginia's Natural Heritage Program, and EDDMapS to ramp up invasive plant
reporting in Virginia. However, for these reports to be uploaded to the
EDDMapS database, they need to be verified. Verification is at the heart
of EDDMapS' data accuracy and credibility.

Unfortunately, we do not have many verifiers in Virginia, which creates a
backlog of unverified reports. Can you help?

Verifiers typically are folks with either an educational background in
botany or a related field or who work or have worked as natural land
managers (or similar).

FYI, you don't have to be an expert in all kinds of plants. There are
different types of verifiers, including ones that specialize in certain
types of plants (e.g., aquatic).

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in doing, I can put you
in touch with the right folks at EDDMapS. Please do send me a note
(preferably off-line).

Thank you!

Susan McLaughlin Gitlin
