Annual invasive plant control in 200 acre Ruth B. Swann Park in Charles
County, MD:
Because of the pandemic, the volunteers have not been available.
Nevertheless, !70 acres of the 200 acre park have been completed in 2021.
All of the garlic mustard, multiflora rose, privets, Leather leaf Mahonia,
Japanese barberry, English Ivy, and oriental bittersweet have been removed.
We also removed ¾th of the wineberry, Mock strawberry, Japanese honeysuckle,
and ground ivy. Next we will remove the beefsteak plant. Unfortunately, way
too much Japanese stilt grass has moved in from everywhere. So we are
waiting for a biological control to arrive someday.
If this 82 year old nature maven can do it so can you! So how well are you
all doing?
