Big steps in the name of conservation and progress are happening in
Virginia and it will be a POWERFUL time to get involved. Never
underestimate your influence at the local level. Now is the time.
With that said, we need all hands on deck this Thursday 9/16/21. This
Thursday the Invasive Species Working Group is meeting at the VA Town Hall
near Richmond to discuss the WHAT, the WHY, and the HOW of banning various
invasive plant species in VA [see Delewares recently passed SB22 lead by
Senator Hansen as an example].
The even more exciting part is that we can be a part of this historic
action.
What can you do to help? Email the conveners of the meeting:
- Larry Nichols, at Larry.nichols at vdacs.Virginia.gov
- Nathan Burrell, at Nathan.Burrell at dcr.Virginia.gov
All comments sent to them will be read aloud in the minutes! Make comments
as impactful, succinct, fact-based, solution-oriented, and data-driven as
possible.
If you are able to attend the meeting in person, as a show of solidarity,
please do! The more people present the more impactful this will be.
