I've had good luck with the Puller Bear tool, which is similar to the Weed Wrench. The model I used was lighter weight, but still effective for the single trunk species we were removing.

Thanks,
Mary

After WeedWrench took itself out of biz I wound up getting an UpRooter which was made by a guy who used to work for WW dude. I agree with others that these can be useful tools. I've used it with success on Bush Honeysuckle, Burning Bush, Multiflora Rose, Japanese Barberry, and even some Asian Wisteria with taproots where vine diameter wasn't greater than about an inch.

The weight is a consideration and I agree that mods to the base could be helpful.

Cheers, Steve Young

Looking for recommendations or comments on the utility of weed wrenches or similar. Wondered if it was a helpful mechanical option for privet, bush honeysuckle, or autumn olive.

Thanks.
