[MAIPC] Integrated Vegetation Management

Liz,

I've heard presentations by Rick Johnstone of IVM over the past 10+ years
at pesticide certification trainings in Maryland. I've been impressed with
the approach IVM takes and how it is filling a niche with respect to ROW
vegetation management. My assessment is that IVM is sensitive to native
plants and wildlife and target control efforts toward plants/veg that pose
a problem for the utility while avoiding unnecessary impacts to natives and
restoring or improving wildlife habitat. This requires substantial planning
and taking a long-term approach for the management of each site. I have
not worked with IVM nor seen a project first-hand but the presentations
indicate a vast improvement over the historic scorched Earth approach to
utility ROW management.

Are you considering hiring them for ROW work?

Thanks,

Jil
