Re: Joe Pye weed having its own genus -
As I understand it, taxonomy is based on physical and, more recently, genetic characteristics. It's not based on chemical characteristics. 

Re: whether Neo-nicotinoids cause invasiveness -  
If a plant has invasive characteristics - basically, whether it can survive and dominate outside of its native range - then it can be considered invasive. 

Re: whether Neo-nicotinoids change the DNA of a species -
Could you provide some references to support this?

Hi again, The chemicals that are present within the plant - make the plant. For ex: Joe Pye Weed now has its own Genus - why? Chemical make-up. Neonnicotinoid changes the basic chemistry of the plant - yes it does - change the plant chemistry because the chemical is implanted into the seed - this changes the DNA of the plant because it is put into the seed. The DNA package is then different - it has different coding because it has this seed that carries the chemical neonnicotinoids/related nicotine like products. The chemicals present within a plant make the plant. My point: Neonicotinoid has been linked by studies to show that it is contributing to bee population decline. Therefore, if the plant is a ‘debilitator’ to other plants because of its contribution to the decline of pollinators - can it be represented as an invasive?
